Cortona is one of the most ancient Etruscan towns and thanks to its towering position (600 m. a.s.l.) it has a gorgeous view of all the Valdichiana. The town’s mainly Medieval character, confers the narrow and steep streets a suggestive quality. Aside from the historical centre one may visit the Museo dell’Accademia Etrusca (the new Museum of the Etruscan Academy) that houses among other artefact, the famous Lampadario Etrusco (Etruscan Chandelier) said. ”of Cortona” and the “Musa Polimma” (Polymnia Muse) a roman fresco of extraordinary beauty, and the Museo Diocesano (Diocesan Museum) that houses famous works of art by local artists among which Luca Signorelli, and the outstanding L'Annunciazione" (The Annunciation) by Beato Angelico.
 
Lago TrasimenoLago Trasimeno
Lake Trasimeno, or the Perugia Lake, is the 4th biggest Italian lake, with a surface of 128 km2. The lake’s fauna is varied and abundant, among the many species of fish are pike, carp, tench, pollard, eel, and many more. A pleasant boat ride will take you on a tour of the lake’s Natural Park which includes the three beautiful islands of Isola Polvese, Isola Maggiore and Isola Minore.
 
ArezzoArezzo
This town of Etruscan origin has an important history for being the birthplace of many famous people, among which: Gaius Cilnius Maecenas, Petrarch, Vasari, , Francesco Redi, Guido d'Arezzo and l'Aretino, and for its monuments and characteristic architectural features which convey a feeling of reminiscence. Not to be missed: the “Antique Fair” (Fiera Antiquaria) which takes place every first Sunday of the month and the preceding Saturday, and the “Giostra del Saracino” a historical re-enactment of a medieval joust that takes place twice a year in spring and in autumn and is held in Piazza Grande.
 
SienaSiena
Siena is famous worldwide for its artistic heritage and unique medieval urban style and architecture, as well as for the famous “Palio” held every year on the 2nd of July and the 16th of August. It was declared a UNESCO Human Heritage site". Siena also has a longstanding culinary tradition probably due to the prosperous medieval times and the existence of many hostels along the Francigena way.
 
AssisiAssisi
Is famous as the place where Saint Francis (patron saint of Italy) and Saint Clare were born, lived and died and for which it is the destination of religious tours all year round. Not to be missed is the Palio di San Rufino (A crossbow competition) that takes place on the last Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of August and the Calendimaggio medieval festival held on the first Thursday, Friday and Saturday following May 1st.
